Room-by-Room Upgrades to Sell Your Home Fast in Any Market

The faster you sell your home, the sooner you can move and get settled into your new place. You don’t want to wait months for an offer! But if you’re in a buyer’s market, making your home stand out from all of your competitors can be a bit of a challenge. Fortunately, certain home upgrades—many of which you can do yourself—can help your home sell faster and for more money. Here are some room-by-room projects to tackle before putting your home on the

Bathroom Upgrades

Bathroom upgrades are some of the best for generating value and impressing those buyers, but you don’t have to shell out for an entire bathroom renovation. Consider making some smaller upgrades, like repainting the cabinets and replacing the counter. Tiling your bathroom floor is one of the most impactful upgrades you can make in this room. Ceramic and porcelain are both popular options, so consider your budget when deciding between the two. HomeAdvisor reports that you can expect to pay about $0.50 to $35 per square foot of ceramic tile while porcelain ranges from $3 to $35 per square foot. Although ceramic is more affordable, porcelain is more durable and long-lasting.

When it comes to décor, try to make your bathroom feel spa-like. Some simple home staging touches can help with this, such as fluffy bath towels, candles, scented soaps, plants, and relaxing wall art. If your bathroom has a tall ceiling, consider getting a pendant light (like this one for $39.97) to add some extra elegance and ambiance.

Modern Touches in the Kitchen

Like the bathroom, the kitchen is another room that buyers pay special attention to. You can make many similar upgrades here, such as repainting the cabinets, replacing the flooring, and installing a new counter—Apartment Therapy recommends granite countertops for their low-maintenance durability. Consider also replacing your cabinet hardware and installing a new backsplash and faucet. If the light fixtures in your kitchen are looking dated, take them down and spray paint them or buy some new ones altogether. These small changes can do a lot to bring an outdated kitchen into the 21 st century! New, energy-efficient appliances can also be a great selling point for your potential buyers.

Creating a Calming Bedroom

There are also quite a few upgrades you can make to your bedroom to help your home sell faster. Start by giving the walls a fresh coat of paint. HGTV suggests lively blue paint colors, like cadet blue or cerulean—these might even help you sell your home for more money! Layered lighting in your bedroom can help to create a calming atmosphere that just oozes relaxation and functionality. Try to mix up bright overhead lighting for dressing, task lighting for reading, and accent lighting for creating a cozy ambiance in the evening. To make a small bedroom feel bigger, keep your window treatments airy and use mirrors or metallic décor to open up the space.

Boosting Your Curb Appeal

The exterior of your house is the very first thing your potential buyers see when they come for a showing. Make sure you give them a great first impression! To improve your curb appeal, clean up your front yard by removing clutter, mowing the lawn, and weeding your garden beds. Consider repainting the front door along with any outdoor light fixtures or rusty hardware hanging around your entrance. If you have enough room on your porch for a chair, add a little seating area to make the space appear functional and inviting. Add some potted plants to your front entrance and you’re good to go!

If you want to sell your home fast, consider tackling some of these projects to make your house stand out from all of those other properties on the market. You don’t have to spend a lot of time or money as long as you pick impactful upgrades and avoid full-room renovations. Focusing on the right areas of your home, like the bathroom and kitchen, will help you capture the hearts of your potential buyers so you can start receiving offers as soon as possible.
